    A U.S. man was sentenced Friday to die for killing a woman and her two daughters during a night of terror in their suburban home, a crime that halted momentum to abolish the death penalty in the state of Connecticut.

    A jury condemned a U.S. man to death Friday for raping and strangling a woman and killing her two daughters in an attack that led to the defeat of a bill to abolish the death penalty in Connecticut and was compared to Truman Capote's "In Cold Blood."

    A man was convicted Thursday of murdering a woman and her two daughters in a gruesome 2007 home invasion in which family members were tied up, molested, doused in gas and left to die in a fire. He now faces a possible death sentence.

    Jury deliberations begin in Conn. home-invasion case

    A judge denied an effort Wednesday by lawyers for a Connecticut man charged with killing a woman and her two daughters in a home invasion to reopen their defense based on letters from a co-defendant claiming he had committed numerous murders in the past. The case then went to the jury.

    A doctor whose wife and two daughters were killed in a home invasion told jurors Tuesday that he was attacked with a baseball bat in the middle of the night and described how he fell, crawled and rolled in his frantic escape to a neighbor's house.
