    D.C.'s H Street friendly to deaf community

    Shortly after it opened, the H Street Country Club bar switched from black napkins to white. It seems like a small change, but it has had a big impact for one group of customers.


  • The Victorian-era fire station at 1341 Maryland Ave. NE has become the Engine House, contemporary-style condominium lofts developed by Hamel Builders and the Argos Group.

    Few people long to live in a police station or even a firehouse, no matter how good the chili is. After visiting the transformed structures known as the Station and the Engine House on Capitol Hill, however, they may change their minds.


  • Each of the homes at Landmark Lofts has a private yard terrace or roof deck. Unit 310, priced at $674,900, has a private balcony. The one-bedroom home has 1,345 square feet.
