Home day care providers would be forced into unions

Kansas lawmakers, led by Republican Gov. Sam Brownback, introduced a bill Wednesday that would eventually end the state's income tax.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Divers checked submerged cars in the Mississippi River today for victims still trapped beneath the twisted steel and concrete slabs of a collapsed bridge. As many as 30 people were reported missing as the rescue effort shifted to recovery.
It's an example of Kansas' "leading edge of the conservative economic and political movement," and should serve as a model for other Republican-led states, Kansas Rep. Tom Sloan said, according to one media report.
"We have now met with every single worker who was on the bridge when it collapsed," Tom Sloan, vice president of the company's bridge division, said in a news release yesterday. "None of them observed or reported any unusual swaying."
