Buffalo Bills defensive lineman Torell Troup will have back surgery this week to repair what he called "a minor fracture" in his spine.
The Buffalo Bills released defensive lineman Marcus Stroud in a move on Wednesday that freed up salary and playing time for the team's young and developing players.
Rookie defensive tackle Torell Troup agreed to a contract with the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, a day before the team was set to open training camp.
Troup told The Associated Press on Monday that he should be fully recovered in about three months.
Troup, who also broke his right hand in training camp, said he didn't want to leave the team short-handed because of a nagging foot injury that eventually landed starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams on IR last month.
