Another apology may be coming from Van Jones

By Amanda Carpenter on Sept. 4, 2009 into Hot Button Blog

White House Special Advisor for Green Jobs at the Center for Environmental Quality Van Jones had apologized twice this week for making regrettable statements and there may be another one coming.

His name is posted online in support of an October 2006 petition to stop police brutality posted by the Revolution newspaper, which describes itself as the “Voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.” The petition was created by a group called the October 22nd Coalition that seeks to "meet the intensifying nationwide epidemic of police brutality with resistance on the national level" and says it works with the International Concerned Family and Friends of Mumia Abu Jamal.

Other groups and individuals signing the petition include: Act Now to Stop War and End Racism, Freedom Socialist Party of San Francisco, International Socialist Organization of San Francisco, Justice4Palestinians, New Black Panther Party's New York Chapter and the Party for Socialism and Liberation.

Mr. Jones released a statement Thursday evening apologizing for a different petition he signed, on behalf of 911Truth.org, that demanded an investigation into what Bush Administration officials may have known that permitted the terrorist acts of 9/11 to take place, "perhaps as a pretext to war." [See previous coverage HERE.] Wednesday he apologized for making disparaging remarks about Republicans at an energy conference in Berkeley, California.

The "resistance" petition is available online HERE.

It discusses the effect 9/11 has had on law enforcement and the creation of a "police state," saying: "Since September 11, 2001, law enforcement agents (including border patrols) have been given greater license to increase and broaden repression. Steps were even taken to grant more worth to a police officer’s life, with the 'heroes law' enacted in New York State, for which the governor originally called for a death sentence for anyone who shoots a cop."

"We resist so that we will not be crushed," it says.

Inquiries have been made to the Revolution newspaper and to the White House about the White House adviser's knowledge of this petition. This blog will be updated when information is provided.

UPDATE: When asked about the October 22nd Coalition petition, the Council on Environmental Quality referred the Washington Times to the statement Mr. Jones made on Thursday evening.

That was:

"In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration - some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.

My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources."

The President needs to demonstrate some courage and fire this racist communist. To keep this hater employed with our money is a slap in the face to those of us who have fought for this great country. God (of the Bible) Bless the USA

Why does Obama surround himself with all these "nutjobs" like Van Jones? This is truly who Obama really is. This is what he really is all about. What is the no expression, "show me who your friends are, and I will show you who you are". This is what B H. Obama is all about!

If Obama does not remove someone like this from a position of power - exactly what does it take for him to do so? If you agree with him you can be a child molester and / or communist? Last time I checked, using the excuse we hear from the Obama supporters - Communism lost- lets stop supporting it.

We need a lot more info NOW about this presidential advisor Valerrie Jarrett, who is so excited about "capturing" the energy and creative powers of van jones..an advisor to the president with such communist allies...this makes my stomach turn!

Any number of apologies will never change who this jerk really. In his apology: "If I have offended anybody" IF. Good Lord he offended 98% of Americans.

OurRightFootForward.com, Van Jones is just one of the many, many, radicals, communists, and Marxists in the Obama clan, are we to think that you are not known by the company you keep, please! We need to take our country back! The President has surrounded himself with these ideals and these people for his entire life, thank God that people are finally starting to see the error made on election day, and maybe just maybe, people will look under the surface come next election.

OurRightFootForward is absolutely, 100% correct! If Van Jones goes (and I believe he should), then what about Holdren, the Emanuel brothers, Holder, et. al. ad nauseum?? BHO has appointed nearly four dozen czars at this point, none of which were vetted and none have been given any congressional, committee, or other kind of oversight. We have a virtual dictatorship running the US right now...the question ought to be, how do the people (remember "of the people, by the people, for the people??) stand up and take it back before it's too late...or is it too late already???

Well, if Americans don't "get" who Obama is by now...we never will. Why is the media in bed with all of this? You know, NBC and Jeffery Immelt, along with ABC and CBS. Where is their outrage? But, then why would Immelt be worried they just gave him a job in the Federal Reserve. (What's wrong with this picture)? Where is the outrage of our Elected officials, i.e., the Senators and our Congressmen? Just who the hell is "watching the store"? I guess only us "Mobs, and un-american, astroturfers!"

Or does this rag not count?

Remember the contempt when rivals said that Obama's relationship with Ayers & all those communist radicals was an issue? Voters were being reminded that you can tell a man by the company he keeps - and that old adage was treated with ridicule. Who's laughing now? No one. We all lost.

If a resignation is forthcoming, shouldn't the advisor(s) for advisors go too?

Another apology? The only thing this character is sorry for is that his comments became public. This points to a much more serious problem, just who are these czars ( the tzars in Russia all met an untimely end). They are not vetted, Congress does not have any oversight, if fact, it may even be unconstitutional.

Typical democrat "apology." "I apologize IF I offended anyone." It's a non-apology, agree with above poster that the only thing he's sorry about is that it became public. Obama won't cut him loose because he's "from da hood."

Until the media begins to report the truth..boycott all their advertisers..at least until the newly appointed Zcar of FCC stops all media that he deems unworthy of broadcasting. GOD BLISS AMERICA. We didn't go to your country to try and change it...So please leave if you don't like the Freedom so many have given their lives for!!
