It's a small world for Obama as health care joke resurfaces

File this under "You can't make this stuff up": a 13-month old joke about health care resurfaced today when President Obama held a town hall meeting in Raleigh.

Long story short, Obama today seemed to randomly call on a woman who said her father had given him a cane "to help you out during ... health care reform" last year.

It's an example of how small the world is, since she's from Bristol, Virginia, the town where Obama officially began his general election campaign in 2008 and where he heads shortly for another health care town hall at a grocery store.

I was there in Bristol last June, when Charles Edwards gave Obama a maple walking stick as a gift.

Edwards, 95, handed the then-candidate the carved stick, and Obama called it "beautiful."

Obama raised and waved the stick, declaring: "If members of Congress don't pass my health care bill ... I'll whoop 'um."

Wonder where the stick is now - he may be needing it.

Then again, his former campaign now run by the DNC as Organizing for America, announced a fundraising drive today asking for donors to set up a $1 per day autopay via credit card to keep giving until health care is passed.

"A huge response will show the insurance companies and their allies in Congress that their delay tactics will only make our movement stronger," OFA's Mitch Stewart tells supporters.

Yes, Christina, I'm with you. We all know that Hussein is so stupid that he will continue to go against the will of the people;you know, that, what 70-80% who are comfortable with their health insurance.

ClarenceE, I think you better start watching other news sources than FOX. What about the almost 45 million who cannot even afford decent health insurance? I wish people like you would just stay out of the debate since you seem to have nothing relevant to offer to it.

cndfox- Typical left-wing loonie. If someone disagrees with you, they should keep their mouth shut, right? What is there to debate if you don't consider an opposing view? Sounds like Obamaspeak to me. ClarenceE is corrrect and the numbers come from the Rasmussen Poll which both paties consider the top or second best poll (they poll people who vote). Another poll says about 80% do not want to cover illlegal immigrants which make up about half of the 45 million. And how many of those 45 million have been refused care at an emergency room? Zero.

cndfox, you have your numbers completely mixed up. The number of people without health insurance is 49 million!!! Your numbers were for how many people died from lack of health insurance. I will point out that they took a poll of 9000 people 20 years ago asking if they had insurance and if they had no health insurance and have died for any reason, heart attack car wreck slipping and falling off a cliff, they were counted as dead due to lack of health insurance. As per the 49 million that don't have it. Many don't want it and all can afford it. 42% of the uninsured don't want Obama's health care plan, assuming he actually has a thought out plan. Just a 40 hour week at minimum wage (and no breaks on holidays) is enough to top the poverty level for two people let alone the fact that this is only one person working. You can afford it.Just work!
