Bowden: Nats have made Teixeira offer

← return to Chatter

Just got done meeting with Jim Bowden, and I wanted to pass along this bit of information before I get cranking on a story for tomorrow's paper: The Nationals have made what Bowden called a "very significant" offer to Mark Teixeira. It's believed to be at least seven years and worth a minimum of $150 million, though it could certainly be higher. Bowden would not discuss terms of the team's offer, or whether they've made more than one offer. But he said Teixeira is the team's No. 1 target. This will likely stretch past the Winter Meetings, but it's pretty clear the Nationals are very serious. More as we get it.
