Nats sign two veterans

The Nationals signed shortstop Alex Cintron and catcher Javier Valentin to minor-league deals on Tuesday, adding a pair of veterans to their spring training roster who will be long shots to make the Opening Day roster. Cintron hit .286 with one homer and 10 RBi for Baltimore last season. Valentin, who played the last five seasons with the Cincinnati Reds, will have to unseat Wil Nieves to make the team as a backup catcher. He hit .256 with four homers and 18 RBI last season.
