Martis, Zimmermann make rotation, Pena on waivers

The Nationals' Opening Day rotation is set. Rookie right-handers Shairon Martis and Jordan Zimmermann will be the Nos. 4 and 5 starters, respectively, with Zimmermann opening the season in the minors before his spot comes up on April 19. Collin Balester has been optioned to Class AAA Syracuse. Also, Wily Mo Pena has been placed on waivers, paving the way for the outfielder to either be picked up by another club, report to Class AAA or become a free agent. Other roster moves this morning: Infielder Jose Castillo, outfielder Corey Patterson and catacher Javier Valentin all were re-assigned to minor-league camp. Castillo and Patterson accepted the assignments. Valentin elected to become a free agent. More to come...
