It's no secret that the Nationals' defense this year was subpar, at best. The team led the majors in errors and ranked dead last in fielding percentage.
But ESPN tonight will honor the Nationals for their defensive skills during the"Best of Baseball Tonight Web Gem Awards" special.
The show is a roundup of all the best defensive plays of the year, with awards given out at each position, plus overall awards for a player and team.
The Nationals, despite their defensive problems, managed enough highlight-reel plays to win the overall team award from Baseball Tonight, and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman won the overall award for the player with the most "Web Gems."
