EagleBank Bowl ticket update

Just talked with EagleBank Bowl executive directorSteve Beck a little while ago, and I initially wondered if things had settled down a little bit after a crazy week that included a long wait for an ACC team to officially land in the Dec. 20 game at RFK Stadium.

My assumption that maybe things were saner was quite incorrect.

"It's crazier this week," Beck said. "The momentum, it's like a roller coaster, only it's only downhill. There's no way to stop it."

Indeed, Beck and his colleagues have a ton to take care of before Navy and Wake Forest meet in the 11 a.m. game a week from Saturday. With bowl events not quite underway, it means the emphasis is on loose ends and ticket sales.

Beck said the bowl has sold about 24,000 tickets so far, and Wake Forest had sold 2,000 of its 4,000-seat allotment as of last night. Given that Wake Forest's undergraduate enrollment last year was 4,412, getting 4,000 fans to travel on short notice would probably be pretty good.

Navy is expected to arrive at its hotel Tuesday night, while Wake Forest will get into town at about 3 p.m. next Wednesday (Dec. 17).
