Delmarva/D.C. rankings

← return to D1SCOURSE

The top seven teams remained the same in this week’s 29-school exercise.

The bottom eight teams are still in the same order as before.

But there was movement in the middle.

Virginia gets a bump for winning at Georgia Tech. UMBC rises after its solid victory at Nebraska just before Christmas (can’t say I saw that one coming after the Retrievers looked so sloppy early on against American on Dec. 20). James Madison spikes after knocking off Seton Hall in Harrisonburg.

The lesson here is beating mediocre power conference teams does do you some good. In the case of UMBC and JMU in particular, those are solid building blocks heading into league play. In the case of Virginia, it means the Cavaliers get to spend some time atop the ACC.

Anyway, here’s the weekly rundown of the Division I men’s programs in Delaware, Maryland, Virginia and the District – and this week, the records have even been double-checked to ensure I didn’t leave a line from the previous rankings in there by mistake.
