Maryland, North Carolina and the AP rankings

Yes, that’s North Carolina checking in at No. 17, the highest ranked of all the teams in the ACC.

It’s been a while since Maryland played a ranked Tar Heels team – try the opening weeks of the 1997 season.

But that wasn’t the only time, and with Carolina arriving at Byrd Stadium on Saturday, it seemed like a good time to run through the full list of Maryland’s games against a ranked team from Chapel Hill.

Overall, Maryland is 4-9 in those games, including 3-3 in College Park.
