Boston College has Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen’s attention.

Most specifically, the Eagles’ defensive tackles have his attention.

Of course, it’s hard not to notice Ron Brace and B.J. Raji.

Brace is listed at 6-foot-3 and 324 pounds. Raji is noted on the depth chart at 6-1 and 323 pounds.

Friedgen loves noting heights and weights while running down opponents during his Tuesday presser. Today was the first time all season that sort of commentary was notable in any way.

“Their two defensive tackles put together weigh 700 pounds,” said Friedgen, who was obviously ignoring the sum of 324 and 323 is 647. “Brace they’re saying is 324. B.J. Raji, if he’s 323 then I’m about 180.”

Friedgen, in case you haven’t noticed over the last eight seasons, is not a small man.

But he’s quite correct in worrying about Brace and Raji. The Eagles rank fifth nationally in total defense and seventh in the country in rush defense. And those two burly run-cloggers are a big reason why.
