ATLANTA --- Just was handed the ACC's preseason basketball poll.
This media day event is usually held in Greensboro, N.C. With a shift further away from the league's geographic center, the conference could scrounge up only 40 reporters willing to vote on this stuff.
There are two beat writers who cover Maryland down here, which is more than the total who cover a few of the other conference schools. Some don't even appear to have attracted any regular media at all.
Anyway, here's the 12-team rundown. Gotta jump onto Ralph Friedgen's Sunday teleconference here in a second.
No. Team Points
1. North Carolina (40) 480
2. Duke 436
3. Wake Forest 354
4. Miami 344
5. Clemson 306
6. Virginia Tech 298
7. Maryland 192
8. Georgia Tech 186
9. N.C. State 179
10. Florida State 145
11. Boston College 123
12. Virginia 79
