Had a chance to catch the second half of the St. Patrick-Lincoln high school game last night.
Obviously, this is of some interest because Maryland target Lance Stephenson plays for Lincoln.
He certainly played a solid game, producing 21 points in a loss to a highly regarded opponent from across the Hudson in New Jersey.
The more interesting player might have been James Padgett, who signed with Maryland back in November. He had 13 points and 12 rebounds.
It's difficult to try to translate 32 minutes worth of work into how a player might fit into a college team. But Padgett was particularly rugged on the offensive glass, so there's certainly some encouragement to be taken from his performance --- especially since that's something Maryland could use at this stage.
Also interesting: Lincoln is in the midst of a five-games-in-six-days stretch that includes a meeting with national powerhouse Westchester (Calif.) tonight.
One last interesting note: Stephenson told reporters afterward he had been invited to the McDonald's All-America game. If true (likely) and if he lands at Maryland (your guess is as good as mine), he would be the Terps' third Burger Boy of the decade (after Travis Garrison and Mike Jones).
