* The Maryland coach was pleased with how true freshmen C.J. Brown and Danny O’Brien fared at quarterback for their first day, and added that starter Chris Turner looked sharp.
* Not a huge surprise there would be some cramping on such a sweltering day. Friedgen said both wideout Torrey Smith and cornerback Richard Taylor tightened up in the heat, but didn’t expect it to be a lingering issue for either.
