The ACC and TV

← return to D1SCOURSE

Only a few minutes to blog off ACC commissioner John Swofford's media forum.

Sure enough, the first question he fielded was about TV contracts.

"That's quite a contract the SEC signed," Swofford said drolly.

Was it ever.

In any case, Swofford said he was pleased with the ACC's television partners, and said the current focus is on those entities as the football and basketball deals approach their end in the 2010-11 school year.

"Our league has traditionally negotatiated those deals separately rather than together," Swofford said. "The opportunity will be there for us to negotiate those contracts together this time if we choose to do so."

That said, Swofford also said the league would look at different models when those deals come up.

In short: The league has an important move to make, especially in the wake of the SEC's mammoth deal --- and Swofford is fully aware of it.
