Not a whole lot from the ACC teleconference this morning.

Maryland coach Ralph Friedgen got questions from two reporters, the first discussing the Terps' defense heading into a date at potent N.C. State.

"They are very, very explosive," Friedgen said. "It was a heck of a game against Florida State. Russell Wilson is a heck of a quarterback and has a lot of threats and a seasoned offensive line. We've been playing better on defense but we're going to get a real test this weekend."

Friedgen went on to acknowledge Thaddeus Lewis had carved up the Terps a bit two weeks ago, but said that was as much a function of Duke's pass-pass-pass philosophy. Still, the Terps will need to get to Wilson to be successful.

"We have to get sacks," Friedgen said. "We pressure quite a bit. We're going to give up some things. Hopefully we can make it up with the lost-yardage plays."

Also a topic --- wideout Adrian Cannon, who has become more of a factor as defenses have focused on Torrey Smith in recent weeks.

"We were a little disappointed in Adrian early on since he wasn't making as many plays as he did in the spring and even fall camp," Friedgen said. "More and more has been placed on him with Torrey [getting attention]. More and more the last few weeks, he's risen to the occasion. ...

Adrian's a big, strong kid. I think he's a very physical receiver. He can go up and catch a ball in a crowd, and he has very good hands --- very strong hands. Last week he caught the ball and made people miss, which is really his forte."
