RALEIGH, N.C. --- The Maryland defense talked about finally punching into the end zone this season under new coordinator Don Brown.

Nine games later, it finally happened.

Alex Wujciak huffed and puffed and made it into the end zone after a 70-yard charge down the sideline in the first quarter at N.C. State today. It's the first Maryland defensive touchdown since 2006 --- a span of 41 games, which was the longest drought in the country.

Amazingly, it almost didn't happen.

N.C. State punted away on fourth down, but Maryland was called for running into the kicker. So the Wolfpack took the penalty and opted to go for it on fourth-and-six at the Maryland 33.

Russell Wilson then threw a quick pass to the left that was picked off, and Wujciak joined Erin Henderson and Josh Wilson as the only Terp defenders to score a touchdown in the last five seasons.
