Two misdemeanor charges against Maryland basketball player Jordan Williams were dropped Monday in the freshman’s hometown of Torrington, Conn.
The decision ends a brief legal quandary for the forward, who is expected to contend for playing time when practice begins later this month.
Williams was charged with breach of peace and third-degree assault stemming from an Aug. 8 incident. He turned himself into police Sept. 26 on the promise to appear in court Monday.
“We’re happy this has been resolved,” Maryland coach Gary Williams said in a statement released by the school. “Jordan is an outstanding person and a student-athlete who is a great representative of our basketball team.”
