Turner's toughest times

← return to D1SCOURSE

Chris Turner's two career games against Rutgers will go down as polar opposites for the Maryland quarterback.

The game two years ago in Piscataway was a coming out party for Turner, then a sophomore.

Yesterday, well ... the guy committed four turnovers. That about sums things up.

"I think everyone's pretty down," Turner said while a giant ice pack sat on his right shoulder. "I know I’m pretty down. It’s hard to stay up in times like this. It's hard as I've had it since I’ve been here."

To be sure, Turner is not near the top of the list of reasons the Terrapins are 1-3 right now. Maryland's issues are far, far too great for most quarterbacks to overcome.

But, as Turner himself noted while taking responsibility for the loss, his shaky performance against the Scarlet Knights helped swing the game. Certainly, it joined these games as ones that won't appear in his personal highlight reel:

Maybe the stats don't back up that assertion. But just from watching what happened yesterday, it was difficult to remember Turner being so shaky for so much of a game.

Like the rest of his teammates, Turner will need to rebound from yesterday's ugly loss. And as he knows all too well, his best bet is to start by eliminating the four turnovers.
