No more excuses!

I would like to remind the Redskins and the fans of a very important fact. Please come back with me to a time this season when our recorded was 6-2 including a stretch where we won 4 in a row. Remember? Now, I would like you to also remember that during that 8 game stretch we were questioning Jason Campbell’s ability to grasp the new Zorn offense and he did. We hadn’t gotten a thing from our two young receivers. We were playing musical chairs with our offensive line. Our man from “Dancing with the Stars”, Mr. Jason Taylor, went down with an injury that sidelined him for the first time in his career. Like always, the guys in the secondary were having their share of injuries and struggles. And last but not least, we were under the leadership of an unproven, first-time head coach in Jim Zorn.

So what does all of this mean? Folks, it simply means that there are no excuses. Don’t blame it on injury or inexperience or distractions or anything else that they’ve been dealing with all year and were able to overcome early in the season. We all know that this Redskins team is capable and that with a three game schedule that includes the Bengals at 1-11-1, the Eagles who we’ve already beaten once and the lowly 49ers. Anything less than a sweep of these teams to end our regular season with a 10-6 record, playoff or not would be…well, anything less is simply uncivilized. “Go Skins” get it done!

DG, I can agree with that. Do you think that the hype on what Portis said about Zorn is blown out of proportion? Do you expect the media's hype on those comments to affect the synergy of this team? It's hard to recall that type of criticism being openly public and even existing at all during the Gibb years! I like Zorn and I think he has the desire and ability to win as do the players.

Once again I have to say, I like the way this hall of famer thinks! There are no excuses... with the talent we have, we should be doing better than we are. Why cant we capitalize on the cannon we have throwing the ball, why does the work horse of the offense have to be the work horse... i believe it was about three years ago when we saw a perfectly executed use of two running backs to destroy the opponents. so why are we putting so many eggs in the Portis bin? And was it not a Moss showdown that allowed us to come back and destroy the cowgirls a couple of years ago? I know we have a new coach... but lets face it, we will never get anywhere until we 1) get all of our cylinders firing in every game, and 2) start having more commitment to doing exploiting the talent that we have. it is a sad day when you say CP, CP, CP... when you have the talent of Moss, Taylor, Campbell, Betts, Cooley, Springs, Randle El, Horton, Springs, Smoot, Rogers, McIntosh, and so many more... We NEED them to start stepping up to the plate... Winners, want to play, meanwhile players want to win; I ask them which are they? But, "Hail to the Redskins!" Just one mans opinion!

Just incase I didnt make that comment clear... Winners, want to play, meanwhile players want to win; I ask them which are they? They have the talent, we just need them to play. Sometimes it appears that they look past the playing of the game and look towards the winning. Meanwhile the opposing teams dont look to win, they just play the game.

bunch of bums...were lucky to be 6-2 and then the pure luck ran out! JEllis, why don't you just put the whole roster up there as 'talent'. LOL (true fan though, i like it). CP IS the only true star on this team (well Moss is and Cooley is above average), but the rest are just a bunch of over-paid washed up bums! Hope they win out though...some salvation to a 2nd half of season melt down.

DG, keep in mind that rookie wide receivers rarely do anything in their first year, with the exception of Colston and Royal. Look at Robert Meachem, Devery Henderson, Dwayne Jarrett, Sidney Rice, Chad Jackson, and on and on. These guys were all 'cant' miss' and were drafted in the first 3 rounds. Sure, there are a few exceptions, but you should not have expected much out of these two in year one. Rookie wideouts have to learn so much in the NFL, new blocking schemes, playbook, and must run much more precise routes. You should know this DG, you used to shut them down!!!
