Climate bill stalls in Senate

The Senate just failed to move forward a major bill that would overhaul the nation's carbon emissions standards. By a 48 to 36 vote, senators this morning failed to obtain cloture on the bill that  calls for cutting carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases by about 70 percent from power plants, refineries, factories and transportation by mid-century.

President Bush had vowed to veto the bill, saying it would have created economic chaos by and jacked up the price of energy. The bill's future is now uncertain.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, condemned Republicans for stalling the bill and linked its failure to GOP presidential candidate John McCain, who did not show up for this morning's vote.

"We saw this morning yet another example of Bush-McCain Republicans refusing to address one of the most important issues of our time," Reid said. "When you look at who Republicans have chosen as the new standard-bearer, this is not entirely surprising: Senator McCain says global warming is one of his top issues, but when he has the chance to do something about it, he doesn’t even show up to work."

I cannot believe our elected officials. How many scientists must tell them how insignificant mankind is when it comes to 'climate change'? We are a mere pimple on the buttocks of the world. Enough of this arrogance to think we are any more important than the creatures that swim in our seas. Mankind, phooey on you, period! Sincerely ... Imme

RATIONING of ENERGY and HOLDING your BREATH Congress tries to dictate who exhales. Carbon caps are a way to ration energy consumption. Carbon caps are another way for the US government to give money to the folks who have it already. The rich would get richer when government sponsored enterprises get carbon allowances that they can trade or sell if they DO NOTHING. No new energy would come from the bill to cap carbon. It would only RATION available energy supplies. It is arrogance beyond imagination to think Congress can alter the course of humanity by passing a law. Does anyone think the rest of the world will give up existing energy sources if we adopt carbon caps? Everyone across the world will NOT stop exhaling and hold their breath. The next thing will be a quota on the number of cows, chickens, dogs, cats, and children. This will control exhaled carbon dioxide. Congress will want to adopt population control to minimize emissions of CO2 pollution.

Read the science of Global Warming. Nothing has been proven. We are insignificant. How many automobiles does it take to equal the output of one valcano eruption?

Dirty Harry fails again as he and his other c0-consiprators(BHO, Brazil, Pelosi) will continue. Wonder if BHO was there? Wonder if HRC was there? Perhaps it is too much for the American taxpayor to expect, the attendance of those we have elected and have to pay for their services. The science is not there, Gore should return his prize and the sky is falling! One of those staement is a untruth but since you don't recognize reality, look up!

Global warming or climate change or whatever want to call it today has no deterministic foundation as proof. We are actually in a cooling trend, not warming and that is why the politicians have evolved to the term climate change. The IEA in Paris put a $45 trillion dollar price tag on reducing carbon footprints to previous levels. Why, was the weather better in previous times? The real issue is why would anyone invest $45 trillion dollars on a "hockey stick" analysis that uses tree rings and which violated 72 out 89 discernable weather forecasting principles. Why? How do socialistic government maintain their control? Taxes and legislation :). How much of France's GNP goes to social programs? Last I heard it was 53.4%. At the 51% level, they own you. What better control?

Harry "The Clown" Reid may act like an idiot but, like most REDS, he is no idiot. He wants to turn this country into the second coming of the Soviet Union, complete with ONE PARTY RULE. If the coming election results in DemoCrook control of the Legislative and Executive branches, you can expect that ONE PARTY RULE to begin in January 2009. Their first act will be to release all the real criminals, so they can start putting the 'dissidents' (like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter) into the prisons instead. So you had all better watch what you say, as they have already started taking notes.
