Conyers asks McClellan to testify

House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers, Michigan Democrat, asked former White House press secretary Scott McClellan to voluntarily testify next week before the committee about a possible cover-up in the Valerie Plame leak scandal. McClellan discussed the Plame scandal in his book released late last month.

"I have extended an invitation to Mr. McClellan to testify before the Judiciary Committee after discussions between Committee staff and his attorneys," Conyers said in a release. "In his book, Mr. McClellan suggests that senior White House officials may have obstructed justice and engaged in a cover-up regarding the Valerie Plame leak. This alleged activity could well extend beyond the scope of the offenses for which Scooter Libby has been convicted and deserves further attention.

There was no leak to cover up! It was known from the beginning that Richard Armitage (State Department) was the "leak" source. Note: Therenever was a leak! Libby was not convicted of a "leak". He was convicted because a rigged trial used purgered testimony to convict him of "lying" to a Federal Officer. As usual Conyers is holding a phoney hearing to throw BS against the wall to see what sticks.

Conyers continues to beat, and beat, and beat a dead horse to see if anything is going to happen. A Special Prosecutor has already looked into this and has come up with nothing, absolutely nothing. Richard Armitage admitted that he leaked the information, yet Conyers still doesn't believe it. Now he's going to waste even more taxpayer money on hearings that are going to go nowhere. Well, it is an election year and what better way to keep Bush's name in the papers then by holding hearings. TOO BAD BUSH ISN'T EVEN RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT! Conyers is such a jerk.

I totally agree it is really Conyer being his usual obnoxious, time wasting self and you just want to SCREAM! However, the really great side of it will be McClellan being totally exposed for producing nothing put a book on opinion and feelings and now being asked in front of cameras, under oath, to produce the FACTS to support is views. I will personally enjoy watching him fumble around and thus be discredited. Its actually quite comical when you think about it. Conyers is doing McClellan no favors and McClellan would be stupid to accept.
