*Bruce Boudreau said everyone is going on the road trip, including Tom Poti, who is dealing with a groin injury. He said Donald Brashear will be a game-time decision tomorrow night, and either Eric Fehr or Boyd Gordon is likely to sit if Brashear does play.
*Viktor Kozlov said his knee is doing better and he will skate tomorrow. He hopes to play at some point during the road trip.
*Boudreau said he put Fedorov with Ovechkin and Backstrom with Semin because that worked very well in the playoffs and he wanted to try to help jumpstart Alex and Nicklas. Backstrom played his best game of the season against the Devils on Saturday night, so he might not be far from a breakout game.
*Tyler Sloan told some great stories about his career after practice. He was on a golf course after his season with Las Vegas of the ECHL had ended when Hershey GM Doug Yingst called in 2006 because he needed a defenseman in a pinch for the Eastern Conference finals of the AHL. Sloan parlayed that into an AHL contract with Hershey, and then an NHL contract with Washington.
He also said his father, Fred, had driven from Calgary to Hershey to spend 10 days watching his son play, so Sloan was able to tell him in person. The problem of course is that his dad has to get back to Calgary now, but he will fly back in time for the game.
*Mike Green, another Calgary native, purchased a suite at the Saddledome for his family, and said he has a bunch of friends trying to find tickets. Green played at Calgary the last time the Caps were there, but this will be the first time for Sloan (obviously) and Jeff Schultz.
