Bruce Boudreau just addressed the media and said he had no new update on Alex Ovechkin's upper-body (i.e. left shoulder/arm/chest) injury. Boudreau said he is guessing that Ovechkin is more likely to be ready by the weekend than Wednesday in New Jersey, but he was only guessing. He also didn't know if Ovechkin will practice tomorrow or not.

Boudreau said he didn't talk to his franchise left wing when Ovechkin showed up at Kettler this morning.

"I haven't seen him and no one is here right now, so I can't give you an update," Boudreau said. "I haven't seen him and I was upstairs with George [McPhee]. I heard [he was here] and that was one of the reasons I came downstairs but I can't find the trainers right now."

To recap (save the paparazzi jokes), Ovechkin showed up with his dad at about 10:30 a.m. He declined to speak with reporters when he went in the building.

Ovechkin's dad waited outside, but he was escorted into the building by head trainer Greg Smith. Ovechkin's dad came back out a little later and drove away shortly before 11:30 a.m. Later a team official said Ovechkin was gone, so presumably his dad went and picked him up at a different exit.

The Caps play next on Wednesday in New Jersey and then again Friday/Saturday in back-to-back games against Florida.

"I'm not trying to avoid the question -- I really don't [know if he will travel to New Jersey]," Boudreau said. "I would venture to guess that he's more probable for the weekend than he is on Wednesday. That's my guess."
