Day One without Alex Ovechkin is here for the Washington Capitals. Bruce Boudreau has shuffled the lines up for practice, so here's what they look like:
Fleischmann-Backstrom-Knuble
Laich-Morrison-Semin
Laing-Steckel-Bradley
Fehr-Perreault-Clark
Mathieu Perreault was recalled from Hershey and the Caps sent Keith Aucoin back. Aucoin had five points in eight games, which is a better scoring pace than anyone outside the top six forwards and Mike Green, but he was also two games away from being eligible for waivers again. Perreault has a goal and six assists for the Bears this season.
Also, it looks like Eric Fehr is ready to return from a rib injury, but if he still can't go tomorrow, the Caps would either dress Tyler Sloan as a forward or recall another guy from Hershey.
Boyd Gordon is not on the ice, so it looks like he will miss his ninth straight game with a back injury. LTIR could be in play here if the Caps need to free up some cap space in a pinch.
