Bruce Boudreau said Michal Neuvirth will start tonight, his first of the season for the Caps. Boudreau also said that Jose Theodore could start as soon as tomorrow night for Washington in Toronto.
"We just wanted to see him play," Boudreau said of starting Neuvirth. Earlier in the day, Boudreau said there is a chance that "a goalie" might not go on the trip to Toronto and this evening he said for the third time in three press conferences that Jose Theodore is going to Canada with the team. So ... it sounds like Neuvirth could play tonight and then be sent to Hershey afterwards.
Neuvirth is 6-3-0 for Hershey this season. He missed time at the beginning of the season because of an injury suffered in training camp, but his .915 save percentage and 2.34 GAA are evidence that it hasn't bothered him.
Here's what the lineup should look like tonight:
Ovechkin-Backstrom-Fleischmann
Laich-Morrison-Clark
Steckel-Perreault-Fehr
Sloan-Beagle-Bradley
Schultz-Green
Poti-Carlson
Erskine-Pothier
Neuvirth
Varlamov
