Wizards workouts and Donaghy

Here's the list of players that will try to impress Wizards brass at the team's first pre-draft workout session of Thursday at 11 a.m.

  • C.J. Giles – C, Oregon State; Jr., 6-11, 235, 6.3 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.6 bpg.

  • Lester Hudson – G, Tennessee Martin, Jr., 6-3, 190, 25.7 ppg, 4.5 apg, 2.8 spg.

  • Darnell Jackson – PF, Kansas, Sr., 6-8, 250, 11.2 ppg, 6.7 rpg

  • Jeremy Pargo – PG, Gonzaga, Jr., 6-2, 220, 12.1 ppg, 6.0 apg

  • Marreese Speights – F/C, Florida, Soph., 6-10, 245, 14.5 ppg, 8.1 rpg, 1.4 bpg.

  • Jason Thompson – PF, Rider, Sr., 6-11, 245, 20.4 ppg, 12.1 rpg, 2.7 bpg.

There's not much star power in that list right there with Speights and Thompson as the only players believed to have lottery to mid-first round potential. But you never know what type of nice complimentary player might catch the eyes of Ernie Grunfeld and his team.

The team will hold a second session on Friday, but the names of those players haven't been released yet. Workouts are schedule for every day next week. It's previously been reported that North Carolina's Ty Lawson has a workout scheduled with the Wizards, and he does. Just not this week.

As soon as more names and dates are announced, I'll let you know.

In other Wizards-related news, it appears crooked former NBA ref Tim Donaghy made bets on a 2006 Wizards game, using inside information to help make his decision.

The Wizards were playing the Grizzlies and according to prosecutors, Donaghy first had picked the Grizzlies to win. But after hearing from an official NBA scorer a short time before the game that Memphis had a bunch of injuries that night, Donaghy made a phone call to change his pick to the Wizards, who were favored by eight points. Washington won 116-101.
