Wizards swept by Hawks

The Wizards just didn't have the extra punch that they needed to overcome a better -- but haggard -- Atlanta team. You'd have to think if they had Caron Butler tonight, Washington could've gotten that first divisional win.

Said Ed Tapscott: "Antawn played his typical wonderful game, Dominic played solidly, he had nine assists. I thought JaVale McGee gave us a lot of energy off the bench. We just couldn't find that additional scoring. This was one of those games where we couldn't keep pace."

The third quarter -- as it often is -- made the difference for the Wizards. They tied the score at 61-61, but couldn't do any better and eventually watched the Hawks pull away.

Said McGuire: "I think we came out slow in the third quarter, but for the most part, I felt like we played with good energy in the first half. That's how it's been all season, coming down to the third quarter. We weren't getting into our offensive sets. They were able to get out in transition and get some offensive rebounds."

The Wizards will practice tomorrow and then hit the road for a four-game, six-day road trip starting on Wednesday in Oklahoma City.
