Notes from the morning

Cornerback Carlos Rogers was on the field for 11-on-11 practice today for the first time in his recovery from a torn ACL and MCL he suffered Oct. 28 against the Patriots. He had been targeting the regular season opener for his return while Jim Zorn has said later in September. After practice Rogers said he would even like to play in some preseason games.

Other stuff from after the morning session:

* Zarnell Fitch has indeed been cut. A replacement could make his debut tomorrow. First J.T. Mapu, now Fitch. We sense a curse developing for No. 75 in red.

* Eric Shelton has been dealing with some numbness in his hands and legs. The team is trying to be cautious because it is a neck injury.

* Jason Fabini was ill during the practice, and after throwing up in the huddle was allowed to call it a morning.

* Ladell Betts was limping toward the end of practice. Zorn said he had aggrivated the thigh bruise he first suffered a few days ago.
