Day 4 OTA report

← return to Redskins 360

In weather that reminded us media types of an August afternoon training camp practice than early June, the Redskins wrapped up a week of OTAs today at the Park. The highlights: *Running back Clinton Portis and offensive lineman Jason Fabini were excused from practice. Portis came to the Park for treatment and meetings this morning before departing. Fabini got in a cab around 10:50 a.m. for what coach Jim Zorn called a "family issue." Zorn expects Fabini back on Monday but isn't as sure as Portis. *Not practicing were Carlos Rogers, Shawn Springs, Vernon Fox, Kareem Moore, Erasmus James, Antwaan Randle El and Tyler Ecker. Rogers was running some pretty high-intensity sprints on the turf field. Rocky McIntosh again did limited work. *Highlights from the 7-on-7 passing part practice: James Thrash beating Byron Westbrook for a long catch, a one-handed catch by Devin Thomas and two Malcolm Kelly catches -- beating Westbrook to catch a long ball from Jason Campbell and, moments later, catching a pass from Todd Collins on a stop-and-go route. Defensively, LaRon Landry intercepted a pass that was deflected off Santana Moss. *Next week's schedule is the same as this week's -- Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.
