Day 4 OTA report

By Ryan O'Halloran on June 5, 2008 into Redskins 360

  • Subscribe

In weather that reminded us media types of an August afternoon training camp practice than early June, the Redskins wrapped up a week of OTAs today at the Park.

The highlights:

*Running back Clinton Portis and offensive lineman Jason Fabini were excused from practice. Portis came to the Park for treatment and meetings this morning before departing. Fabini got in a cab around 10:50 a.m. for what coach Jim Zorn called a "family issue." Zorn expects Fabini back on Monday but isn't as sure as Portis.

*Not practicing were Carlos Rogers, Shawn Springs, Vernon Fox, Kareem Moore, Erasmus James, Antwaan Randle El and Tyler Ecker. Rogers was running some pretty high-intensity sprints on the turf field. Rocky McIntosh again did limited work.

*Highlights from the 7-on-7 passing part practice: James Thrash beating Byron Westbrook for a long catch, a one-handed catch by Devin Thomas and two Malcolm Kelly catches -- beating Westbrook to catch a long ball from Jason Campbell and, moments later, catching a pass from Todd Collins on a stop-and-go route. Defensively, LaRon Landry intercepted a pass that was deflected off Santana Moss.

*Next week's schedule is the same as this week's -- Monday-Thursday, 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m.

Ryan, You have not mention the sale of WTEM to Snyder, or did I miss it? This is a crushing blow to the dissenting voices everwhere. The Times is the only other local media that is not afriad to criticize Snyder. You guys may be next on his list. Below is my letter to the FCC. It is in the best interest of Redskin fans to urge the FFC to bloack this sale. Jim radioinfo@fcc.gov; KJMWEB@fcc.gov; Michael.Copps@fcc.gov; Jonathan.Adelstein@fcc.gov; dtaylortateweb@fcc.gov; Robert.McDowell@fcc.gov; fccinfo@fcc.gov Chairman Martin, Commissioners Copps, Adelstein, Tate, and McDowell, Please do not approve the sale of SportsTalk 980 WTEM to Daniel Snyder. The purchase gives Dan Snyder control of sports talk radio in Washington. It gives the owner the biggest broadcast outlets for commentary about his team. Snyder has sought to control everything remotely burgundy-and-gold (team colors) ever since he purchased the Redskins. WTEM is home to the only members of the broadcast media whom have the courage to criticize Dan Snyder; Steve Czaban and Andy Polin. These brave voices will be no doubt banished from the airwaves if this sale is approved. Dan Snyder has created an empire and in the process is crushing all dissenting voices. Please stop this sale before the men in Burgundy and Gold come for my computer. V/R,
Mark as offensive
