Norv does it again

← return to Redskins 360

When the Washington Redskins crashed from a 7-1 start to a 9-7 finish in 1996, coach Norv Turner fired his defensive coordinator, Ron Lynn. When the Redskins won the NFC East title in 1999, Turner still axed defensive coordinator Mike Nolan under orders from owner Dan Snyder. And today, with his San Diego Chargers at midseason having already matched last year's five defeats, Turner .. you know what's coming ... fired defensive coordinator Ted Cottrell.

Neither Lynn nor Nolan nor Cottrell did good jobs, but it is amazing how it's never Norv's fault despite his 75-94 career record. All of eight other active head coaches who are in at least their 10th season are all at least 15 games over .500.
