Feeling a draft

Keeping all 10 of their draft picks has changed the look of Washington's roster. The 10 rookies top the nine picks on the team from the previous five drafts combined (Chris Cooley, 2004; Carlos Rogers and Jason Campbell, both 2005; Rocky McIntosh, Anthony Montgomery, Reed Doughty and Kedric Golston, all from 2006; and LaRon Landry and H.B. Blades, both 2007.

Include the four earlier selections (Jon Jansen, 1999; Chris Samuels, 2000; Fred Smoot, 2001; and Ladell Betts and Rock Cartwright, both 2002) and Stephon Heyer, a rookie free agent last year, and that's 25 homegrown players on the 53-man roster. And Chris Wilson and Lorenzo Alexander have never played in regular season games for any other NFL team. So the Redskins could argue that half the team is homegrown -- a very high percentage for this franchise in recent years -- even allowing that Smoot spent two years in Minnesota in between his Washington tenures.
