

The Sporting News has compiled its list of top 50 coaches in sports and checking in at No. 17 is former Redskins coach Joe Gibbs.
The three-time Super Bowl winner and Pro Football Hall of Famer is ranked sixth among NFL coaches, behind Lombardi, Shula, Brown, Halas and Noll.
Phil Jackson (third) was the highest active coach, behind John Wooden and Vince Lombardi.
Gibbs was the only coach from a D.C. pro or college team.
The top 10: Wooden, Lombardi, Bear Bryant, Jackson, Don Shula, Red Auerbach, Scotty Bowman, Dean Smith, Casey Stengel and Knute Rockne.
