Punt return duty undecided

Contrary to a published report, the Redskins have yet to decide what combination of DeAngelo Hall, Santana Moss or Antwaan Randle El will return punts Sunday at Atlanta.

A highly placed Redskins source that said despite Randle El's muff last game against Philadelphia, his fumble out of bounds the previous week against Kansas City and his botched fair catch the week before that at Carolina when the ball hit teammate Byron Westbrook, he's still in the mix to field punts against the Falcons.

The Redskins would like to use Hall and Moss more in that capacity except that they're the biggest playmakers on defense and offense, respectively.

The source said that there's also concern that Hall  hasn't fielded a punt since 2007 when he was with Atlanta. He first went back to handle a punt as a Redskin in the Eagles' game when he was ready to return a fourth quarter punt that Sav Rocca shanked.

Moss has returned just 17 punts since coming to Washington in 2005.

Hall scored on five of his 56 punt returns at Virginia Tech but has returned just 13 punts during his six NFL seasons with a 9.5 average and no scores.  Moss boasts an 11.7-yard average during his nine seasons with three touchdown on his 105 returns.

Randle El, demoted from his starting receiver role this season, is tied for second in the league with 11 fair catches. His 5.2-yard average ranks 25th.
