Make that four starters, three Pro Bowl vets, out for Washington's offense.

It was just announced that running back Clinton Portis won't return after suffering a concussion on his last run. Portis follows left tackle Chris Samuels (neck), who's done for the season, and tight end Chris Cooley (ankle), who's not supposed to return before Nov. 29 at Philadelphia.

Right guard Randy Thomas isn's a Pro Bowl player, but he's done for the year, too, with a torn triceps.

Portis was tackled by cornerback Chevis Jackson and safety Thomas DeCoud and was on the field for a couple of minutes before being helped off.

Portis, who was replaced by Ladell Betts, finished with four yards on four carries, the worst day of his stellar 8-year career.

The injury came four days shy of three years since Portis was sidelined for the rest of the 2006 season with a broken hand at Philadelphia. He has started 40 consecutive games since returning for the start of the 2007 season.
