Just got back from the locker room where it was revealed that Reed Doughty has replaced Chris Horton at strong safety.
Doughty was the starter last year until he missed a game with illness and then got hurt.
"Reed has actually played better the last couple weeks and Chris has struggled a little bit," defensive coordinator Greg Blache said. "[Horton] had a play with bad eyes and we got a big interference call. We had an instant last week where he wasn’t in a good fit. It’s not that we’re down on him but the fact we have a guy in Reed that is so close to him, it gives us an oppty to give him a chance and it gives Chris a chance to catch his breath and re-focus."
Blache didn't disclose any other personnel moves but hinted other changes could be happening.
Blache also said he needs to become more of a "maverick ... a riverboat gambler."
Translation: I think coach Jim Zorn had a chat with Blache this week and told him the defense needs a jolt of aggressiveness.
