Vinny rants

Here are some of the highlights from the opening segment of Vinny Cerrato's radio show.

It was actually quite amusing.

*"Jim Zorn is the head coach for the rest of the season and hopefully into the future."

*"I hired Jim along with Dan Snyder. Obviously, we're all disappointed with this season's performance thus far. Dan constantly talks about how disappointing he is for the fans. We feel the frustration of the fans. We want the fans big-time on Monday night. We want to make them proud. There are a lot of media people that say Dan needs to say this, do that. Dan has never spoken to the media during the season for over a decade. Dan's thing is, during the season, the stage belongs to the head of football operations, the head coach, the players. That's why he doesn't talk."

*(On Largent). "Maybe his friend thought he was protecting Jim. His friend forgets this -- we were a top five defense and had been to the playoffs (before Zorn's hiring). In Jim's contract, he controls everything over his staff. The thing about it is, his friend doesn't mention, Jim worked with all these coaches for a week prior to becoming the head coach and he said during the interview, 'I want those guys.' And then the comment about Sherm Lewis really upsets me. You don't forget all the things you learn over 20-some years in the same offense."

*"We've been under attacks. People keep piling on. I wanted to get some facts out there. The thing about this building, the team is tight, the relationships are tight and we're just trying to prepare to win a game Monday night and execite the fans and get the fans excited about this football team."

*"A different voice is good. To change the voice, to change something on offense to get a spark -- to me, that's all it was."

*Vinny said the Lewis decision was made Monday morning. Wrong. It was Sunday night.

*(On Gibbs rumor): "Just a rumor. ... I read that and everybody in the building read that and ... 'Where did that come from? It was out of left field. Just throwing on the pile of rumors. I'm sure there will be something else today. It never ends."
