Have no fear...fireworks at Nationals Park are unlikely to be distringuished for good.
D.C. Fire Department Spokesman Alan Etter told The Washington Times that he expects the firework displays to return to the ballpark after department and club officials meet to review safety guidelines.
D.C. Fire Chief Dennis Rubin ordered the displays to cease Sunday after he saw paper falling into the stadium from the discharged fireworks. He believed that might present a safety concern and has insisted the city review the process with the team and fireworks contractor, Etter said. The safety meeting is expected to happen today. It is still unclear how soon the fireworks could return.
Fireworks at Nationals Park are common, going off after the National Anthem and after every home run and victory. The team had a post-game fireworks show on June 5 and has shows scheduled on June 19, July 3, July 17, July 24, August 7, August 21 and September 25.
