New Obama ad links McCain to pro-life 527

Sen. Barack Obama's campaign is running a response to the Born Alive Truth ad hitting the Democratic nominee for one of his votes in the Illinois state senate on abortion.

The Obama ad says the 527 group's abortion ad is a "despicable lie," but also blasts Republican Sen. John McCain, who was not responsible.

It insists Obama has "always supported medical care to protect infants," and features McCain's photo and quotes from columnists attacking the Republican's campaign tactics.

"McCain? He's running on a platform to ban abortion, even in cases of rape and incest. Sleazy ads, anti-choice, that's John McCain."

Here's the response ad, which was not sent out by Team Obama but which Born Alive posted:

A representative for Born Alive said the ad is supposed to run this afternoon on a Cleveland TV station during Ellen, Dr. Phil and Entertainment Tonight.

An Obama spokesman hasn't yet responded to requests for more details.

I wrote about the Born Alive ad earlier this week.
