Election Day dispatches

Voters have been sending in their anecdotal polling-place experiences. Here's a sample:

From New York: "I am voting and already the longest line that I have seen on Election Day."

From Ann Arbor, Mich.: "Line not too long yet."

From Columbia, Mo.: "My polling place had 120 voters in line at 6:00 a.m. waiting for the polls to open."

Another Columbia, Mo., report: "There are college students waving Obama signs and yelling, 'Honk for change!' They are literally everywhere. It's quite a sight."

From Bucks County, Pa.: "Very long line, but well organized."

From Brooklyn, N.Y.: "Only hour long lines in Brooklyn right now....gonna be a long day."

A San Francisco resident who is volunteering for Obama in the south side of Denver called in her report. She said the McCain camp has people standing on street corners waving signs and shouting at cars. The Obama camp, meanwhile, has thousands of people knocking on doors, calling voters and working the polls. She didn't see any McCain volunteers in the neighborhood she is canvassing, and she cited excitement in the city from a diverse mix of people.

Finally, I saw four anti-Obama ads starring the Rev. Jeremiah Wright on Chicago television - including local news - this morning. A tipster said the ads also are running in California.
