Art for Obama's sake - The NEA pushes the White House agenda

Once again looking to duplicate the 2008 campaign, the Obama administration is bringing in creative types who were key in helping President Obama win in November.  Now in the role of government, Obama's team is using its power to corral the artistic community through the National Endowment for the Arts(NEA).  A conference call was hosted by the White House Office of Public Engagement, the NEA, and United We Serve on August 10th.   The Washington Times asked the NEA for a copy of the invitation to the conference call, but Communications Director for the NEA Yosi Sergant told us that they were not the ones who sent out the invitations for the conference call.  Mr. Sergant directed us to the Corporation for National and Community Service as the body that sent out the invitations.  We contacted Sandy Scott in public affairs at this government agency and asked for the invitation this afternoon.  As of Thursday evening, we have not received a copy of the invitation.

Big Hollywood's Patrick Courrielche was invited by the NEA to attend the conference call.:

"On Thursday August 6th, I was invited by the National Endowment for the Arts to attend a conference call scheduled for Monday August 10th hosted by the NEA, the White House Office of Public Engagement, and United We Serve. The call would include 'a group of artists, producers, promoters, organizers, influencers, marketers, taste-makers, leaders or just plain cool people to join together and work together to promote a more civically engaged America and celebrate how the arts can be used for a positive change!'"

Mr. Courrielche writes what this creative group was being asked to do:

"We were encouraged to bring the same sense of enthusiasm to these “focus areas” as we had brought to Obama’s presidential campaign, and we were encouraged to create art and art initiatives that brought awareness to these issues. Throughout the conversation, we were reminded of our ability as artists and art professionals to 'shape the lives' of those around us. The now famous Obama 'Hope' poster, created by artist Shepard Fairey and promoted by many of those on the phone call, and will.i.am’s 'Yes We Can' song and music video were presented as shining examples of our group’s clear role in the election. "

It seems as if Rockthevote is already on board with the push for the Obama health care agenda, so no need to wait for 2010 for even 2012 for some familiar Obama campaign moves.  America can see it right now through the power of the Obama government.

If nothing else, at least the NEA is forever putting to bed the myth that artists have important things to say about society. Now we know they are paid (bribed?) to do what they are told by the administration. Who'd have imagined that artists would voluntarily trade in their individuality to be part of the masses lovingly worshiping a political leader?

No, Des, that doesn't put anything to bed. Those "artists" that are in lock step with this administration don't represent all artists and there is enough blame to go around. We can start with all the people that voted for Obama and his charge and now to everyone who is not waking up to what is happening before their very eyes. I did a video a while ago: My name is Alvaro Alvillar and I recently put out a YouTube video titled "A Call to Artists" in which I ask my fellow artists to stand up against liberal politicians, the main stream media and their attempts to strip away our freedoms. Mr. Andrew Breitbart of breitbart.com and Big Hollywood picked up the story, why is talk radio and the rest of the conservative media (the people I'm trying to reach) ignoring the help and consequently, the possibilities? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyatlyQuNbs&feature=channel_page Apparently, conservative talk shows are unaware of the presence of anything other then self loathing, anti-American artists, at least that's been my listening experience. I'm sure a lot of artists would step up if they knew they weren't alone. We are here and it's a pretty lonely place! We could use just a little of the time you devote to art and artists you guys don't like. Believe me, I understand why that gets all the press, but maybe you could take three minutes and watch my video and help us help you by spreading the word. We're in this together, we can make a difference. I thank you for your hard work and I am trying my best to help. Thank you, Alvaro www.studioartservices.com for another artists perspective, click link below http://www.modernconservative.com/metablog_single.php?p=2894 As you can see, an extremely small number of people take notice of artists that are trying to speak out against the liberal press and media! Maybe you can help change that and we can all work together instead of just commenting and name calling!

This president politicizes everything - the NEA, the Justice Department, attorneys general, appointments, czars - everything. Add that to the general left-wing politicization of the institutions of our country from higher learning institutions repeating leftist dogma to the American Psychiatric Association signing off on a report claiming Conservatism is linked to a mental disorder - and you can clearly see where this is all going. Leftists have always fantasized about 'killing' Conservatism. Since they can't do it naturally (America is a center-right nation) they are going to use every shady means at their disposal.
