Audio: Schumer continues to dodge questions on terror trial flip-flop

In the midst of the aftermath of the attempted terrorist attack of Northwest flight 253, Americans are wondering what kind of measures government officials will take to protect the country from further danger. Accused terrorist Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab is now sitting in a Federal Michigan correctional institution in Milan. Mr. Abdulmutallab was supposed to head to federal court on Monday; however, for an unknown reason, the visit was cancelled. A bail hearing is set for the terrorist suspect on January 8.

Now that terrorists and would-be terrorists caught on the battlefield by our military overseas and by a flying Dutchman en route to Detroit are afforded full fledged constitutional rights as any American citizen would, thanks to the efforts of ACLU lawyers.

While in 2001, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) bristled at the thought of providing someone like Osama Bin Laden and his co-horts the same due process as Americans and described trying them in downtown Manhattan's federal court as "ludicrous" (Video ). The New York Senator now fully supports trying confessed 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and other terrorists captured overseas in New York City. The court sits only blocks from ground zero.

Like those behind hatching the foiled terror attack on Northwest flight 253, KSM is a former Guantanamo Bay detainee. Congressman Frank Wolf (R - VA) has already sent a sixth letter to the administration calling on them to halt the release of Gitmo detainees.

When the Washington Times tried to follow up with Mr. Schumer last week, before the Congressional recess, over why he changed his mind about trying terrorists captured overseas in federal courts as opposed to military tribunals, the Senator only ran way.

He continued to remain silent, and only after some prodding did he eventually say (AUDIO), "I gave you an answer once, and it's the same answer I'm giving you now."  Mr. Schumer is referring to his support of the federal death penalty he authored, which he says we wants imposed upon those terrorist suspects found guilty.

The Times of London is reporting that hundreds of al-Qaeda terrorists are planning attacks from Yemen, but are New Yorkers and the rest of America supposed to feel safer, because Senator Schumer supports the death penalty for 9/11 terror suspects that he now supports giving full Constitutional rights to? How about talking about your change of heart, Senator.
