The owner of McArthur's Bakery in St. Louis knows his bills will go through the roof as a result of the passage of the cap and trade bill. Disappointed with his congressman's (Russ Carnahan, D-Mo) vote to pass the legislation on Friday, he posted a scrolling message outside his bakery shop for all passersby to see (h/t gateway pundit.) The message said:"Russ Carnahan voted to close us and other small business." Perhaps this action will spur other small business owners to do the same, and others will put a sign outside their store or place of business describing how the cap and trade bill is bad for business.
UPDATE 6/30/09 3:20 pm :A spokesman from Rep. Carnahan's office has responded to McArthur's Bakery and told the Washington Times,
"I think there's been confusion about the issue generally, and I think the estimates that I have seen are the fact that small businesses much like McArthur's probably experience a dollar more per day adding up to about $365 a year, which is a small price to pay when you consider it would give our country energy independence, which we have been working towards for some time now."

Despite cynicism about the law, it can provide you justice, protection, and ensure your rights. It can be exasperating, and at times, wildly entertaining.
