National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman responded to the August 10 NEA, White House, and United We Serve conference call in a statement sent to the Washington Times. :

STATEMENT FROM NEA CHAIRMAN ROCCO LANDESMAN

September 22, 2009

As chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts, I would like to clarify the issues concerning an August conference call in which an NEA employee participated.

Here are the facts.

Fact 1:             The former NEA Director of Communications helped organize and participated in an August 10th conference call to introduce members of the arts community to United We Serve and to provide them with information on how the Corporation for National and Community Service can assist groups interested in sponsoring service projects or having their members volunteer on other projects.

Fact 2:             The former NEA Director of Communications acted unilaterally and without the approval or authorization of then-Acting Chairman Patrice Walker Powell.

Fact 3:             This call was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false.   Rather, the call was to inform members of the arts community of an opportunity to become involved in volunteerism.

Fact 4:             Some of the language used by the former NEA Director of Communications was, unfortunately, not appropriate and did not reflect the position of the NEA. This employee has been relieved of his duties as director of communications.

Fact 5:             This call was completely unrelated to NEA’s grantmaking, which is highly regarded for its independence and integrity.  Artistic quality, excellence and merit are the guidelines for decision-making; favoritism or political affiliation plays no role in NEA grantmaking.

Fact 6:             The NEA is a successful, independent federal agency that has supported the best of the arts and arts education for nearly 45 years. We take our responsibility to the American public very seriously and are committed to upholding this public trust.

Although my time here has been brief – in fact I arrived at the agency on August 11th the day after the conference call – I am proud to lead the National Endowment for the Arts, proud to work with its capable and energetic staff, and proud to play a role in enhancing the quality of life for the people of our great nation.

Liar, liar, Rocco. This is Chicago all the way and you sound like a Daley stooge. Hi Valerie, how's it all going these days?

Yes, more blah, blah, blah from the Administration of BS Artistry. I guess that is where the National Endowment of the Arts comes in. They certainly show how well endowed they are in the art of Bureaucratic BS.

"This call was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false." Gotcha. Who are we gonna believe - Rocco or our lyin' ears and eyes?

Fact 7: Butt covering has been done better by others. Fact 8: Listing contrived fact lists doesn't change the facts. Fact 9: We'll now return to our normal agenda promoting depictions of sacred Christian icons with human waste on or surrounding them.

Well - admitting a "mistake" is a good thing. But I don't trust this administration. There are way-way-way too many things that we out here "just don't understand." We must be idiots. It can't possibly be that Obama's minions haven't a clue about how to talk with us. Not the greatest communicator in all of history; not the smartest man on all planets in all universes; the Messiah! Let's see your outstretched arm Mr. Messiah, Sir. I'm sure there's some artist who'd love to sculpt it and title it, "The New God, The Magnificent Apollo!"

About that statue - it would be for the children, of course. Gotta get at our kids any way you can.

Let me help you with that: Fact 1: The former NEA Director of Communications helped organize and participated in an August 10th conference call to introduce recipients and applicants for NEA grants and other former Obama campaign employees to United We Serve and to provide them with information on how the Corporation for National and Community Service can secure funding for them to support the administrations unconstitutional take over of the health care and energy sectors of the U.S. economy. Fact 2: The former NEA Director of Communications acted with the full and complete approval and authorization of the President, White House Queen Bee Valerie Jarret and then-Acting Chairman Patrice Walker Powell. Fact 3: This call was a means to promote the President's legislative agenda and any suggestions to the contrary are simply false. Further, the call was to enlist members of the arts community, PR firms and past contractors of the '08 campaign of an opportunity to disguise their receipt of tax payer dollars as volunteerism. Fact 4: Some of the language used by the former NEA Director of Communications and infact the entire premise of the teleconference was, unfortunately, illegal and violated numerous federal laws. This employee has been relieved of his duties as director of communications and is currently working to undermine and destory our constitutional republic somewhere else in the White House. Fact 5: This call was completely related to NEA’s grantmaking, which is highly suspect for its total lack independence and integrity. Artistic quality, excellence and merit are the written guidelines for decision-making at the NEA but as you know favoritism or political affiliation plays a much more important role in NEA grantmaking. Fact 6: The NEA was a successful, independent federal agency that has supported the best of the arts and arts education for nearly 45 years. We at Obama '08, I mean serve.gov, err, ACORN or whatever, will do what we want when we ant with your tax dollars and you can't stop us. The White House lawyers said so. Although my time here has been brief – in fact I arrived at the agency on August 11th the day after the conference call and I expect my tenure to be even briefer. – I am proud to lead the National Endowment for Partisan Arts, proud to work with its criminal staff, and you can bet you will never find out what kind of crap we try to pull on the American taxpayer in the future.

Why is it always a "mistake" when someone is caught in a lie? "This call was not a means to promote any legislative agenda and any suggestions to that end are simply false. Rather, the call was to inform members of the arts community of an opportunity to become involved in volunteerism." Then why were health care, environmental issues or any of the chioces that were given to the "volunteers" even mentioned? And of copurse Miss Buffy from the White House just happened to be in on setting this farce up.

Um....didn't he forget to mention the White House staffer(s) on the call talking about how they had won the election and how it was time to "get to work?" SURELY, this moron doesn't think we're gonna let this drop....surely.

it seems Valerie Jarrett (Obama) was involved directly. Typical attempt by the administration to cover up their questionable activities. It amazes me how quickly all this corruption, lack of experience, and cronyism has infected washington - were is the change? These guys make Bush look like an amateur. This current administration has statist ideologies and the people surrounding Obama (czars) prove this. Watch out people our constitution is being shredded and abused before your eyes.
