The Nationals have traded reliever Jon Rauch to the Arizona Diamondbacks for minor-league second baseman Emilio Bonifacio and also have re-signed shortstop Cristian Guzman to a two-year, $16 million contract extension. Published July 22 2008

Young headed to DL; Zimmerman coming back
The Nationals announced after the game that Dmitri Young will be placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 12, as he tries to get his blood sugar under control. Young, who was diagnosed with diabetes in Nov. 2006, missed the last two games with high blood sugar. Published July 19 2008
