President Obama’s disapproval rating hit an all-time low of 55 percent in a Qunnipiac University poll released Thursday.
Only 29 percent in the survey said the economy will improve if Mr. Obama is re-elected next year.

“The trend isn’t good for President Barack Obama. His disapproval has gone up 9 points since the summer, from 46 percent in July to 52 percent in September to 55 percent today,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Polling Institute.
Mr. Brown said it was “especially troubling for the president” that 49 percent of voters believe former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney would do a better job on the economy, while only 39 percent think Mr. Obama would do better than Mr. Romney.
The president’s job approval among Democrats, 77 percent, is lower than the percentage of Republicans who disapprove (91 percent). And 56 percent of independent voters disapprove of the president.
