The Ron Paul presidential campaign released a new television ad Tuesday morning claiming that rival Rick Santorum sold out conservatism with a variety of “not groovy” votes in Congress — even likening the former Pennsylvania senator’s claims to the conservative mantle to the myth of Bigfoot, the legendary sasquatch.
“Is this dude serious? Fiscal conservative, really?” the narrator says in Mr. Paul’s 30-second spot, which also points out that Mr. Santorum voted to raise the federal debt ceiling five times, double the size of the Department of Education through the No Child Left Behind law and pass the Medicare prescription drug subsidy — “the biggest entitlement expansion since the ‘60s.”

“Not groovy,” the narrator adds, against a tie-dye backdrop and a photo of a smiling Mr. Santorum. The ad also knocks Mr. Santorum for supporting billions of tax dollars to “dictators in North Korea and Egypt” and “even hooked Planned Parenthood up with a few million bucks.”
“Rick Santorum a fiscal conservative?” Fake,” the spots ends, as a picture of Bigfoot holding a “FAKE” sign on screen.
